NCR printing and NCR pads by Colin Cross Printers in Preston

NCR Books Or NCR Pads – Which Is Best?

NCR sets are commonly used to record transactions in many businesses – NCR stands for No Carbon Required and these pads and books are used to record business transaction items such as invoices, delivery notes, receipts, and credit notes amongst other business uses. NCR pads and books create multiple copies of individual transactions and act as ‘proof of service or delivery’ for the relevant parties. Here is some information on NCR pad and book printing:

NCR Pads

NCR pads consist of a number of NCR printed sets that are glued together to form one pad. Usually produced in sets of 50 per pad but can be ordered in more bespoke numbers if required, they are produced with a ‘writing shield’ inserted beneath the set being used to avoid any transference of data to the sets below the current one. To use the NCR set you simply fill out the top form of the set and remove the individual sheets for the relevant distribution. These sheets tear-off individually and not as a complete set.

When filled-out and the set removed, simply reinsert the protective writing shield underneath the next custom NCR set ready for use. The pads are usually produced with a hard back card to provide a ‘platform’ to aid the actual writing of the pad – these NCR pads are lightweight and ideal for use ‘on-the-go’ as such. They can be produced in full colour or simple black and white and can be single or double sided – NCR printing can be performed on any coloured paper, so you can usually order NCR pads in white, green, yellow, or blue.

NCR Books

NCR book printing produces documents very much the same as NCR pads, but with the individual sets stapled at the edges to create a booklet rather than a pad. These NCR books are more durable and robust then the pad sets, with the pages perforated to enable the sheets to be removed easily and tidily. Some NCR books will be produced so that the bottom sheet is NOT removed and remains in the book, thus creating a full copy of the contents and transactions that the book has been used for and a complete record of the customers or clients served. This makes NCR books ideal for accurate record-keeping and storing your file copies safely and orderly. Like the NCR pads, NCR book printing can be produced in full colour or black and white, can contain various numbers of NCR sets, can be single or double-sided, and be produced in different coloured paper.

It is usual in both NCR pads and books, that a different coloured paper will be used for the individual copies of each set helping to identify which party/who receives a copy for the relevant use, for example, a pink copy for the customer, a yellow copy for the driver etc.

Summary

There is no definitive ruling as to which is better between NCR pads and books – it will depend on the nature of the business and the ease of use and relevance for each individual user. Whichever option best suits your business, if you are looking for NCR pads in Preston then it is worth consulting with Colin Cross Print services – their staff will be able to advise you on the benefits of NCR printing in both forms, along with other valuable printed business stationery options.
