Custom NCR Printing for Trades

  1. For many businesses, custom printed NCR forms are a necessity. It is common for companies to require multiple copies of the same document, for filing and record keeping purposes. It would be easy to assume that record keeping, and filing would all be done electronically these days. But investing in the technology and training to manage this – particularly for companies with a high volume of employees who are responsible for invoicing and record keeping – is not always possible. For these companies, NCR book printing is an invaluable tool and provides the ability for documentation whilst on the move.

The trade industry is one that really benefits from the use of NCR book printing. Lots of businesses within this industry have tradesmen out on jobs all day, every day and it’s essential to equip their workers with the right tools for record keeping.

The beauty of NCR printing is the carbonless aspect of it. In the past, the use of carbon copies made the entire process messy and complicated. Custom carbonless forms are made by utilising multiple layers of paper, backed with a specialised dye on each. This dye is activated when pressure is applied, transferring through to the pages beneath to create multiple copies. NCR printing can be customised with branding and logos and can come in single sets, pads or books.

  1. NCR Printing for Tradesmen - FAQ's

What’s the difference between NCR printing and carbon receipt books?

The main point of difference here is the requirement for a carbon coy sheet. With carbon receipt books, there is always a sheet of carbon paper which must sit between the top sheet of paper and any counterparts, that will in effect become the “copies”. Carbon paper is messy and sometimes ineffectual. If the sheets of paper slide or move off centre, then the carbon can copy through onto the wrong area of the counterparts, therefore creating inaccurate information or ledgers that are difficult to read. Because NCR printing is done onto paper that is pre-treated with a specialised dye, it eliminates the need for carbon paper since the dye transfers through to all counterparts in one go. The sheets in NCR sets, pads and books are all glued together seamlessly which reduces the chance of them moving and sliding around.

Why are NCR forms useful for Tradesmen?

The simple answer here is for ease of invoicing, documentation, and record keeping. For the many companies or individuals out there, who do not manage their invoicing or documentation digitally, whilst out on jobs, NCR printing provides a simple and effective solution to producing multiple copies of one document. They can be customised easily too. Which means that every invoice or document you make will automatically have your branding on already, saving you time and energy. In many situations, the work required isn’t always known prior to arriving so preparing an invoice is not possible. This is very common with businesses and individuals operating in the Trades Industry. In this situation, having custom NCR at your disposal, is absolutely essential for record keeping and providing customers with documentation as well.

Why should I customise my NCR forms?

As touched on above, customising your NCR sets, pads or books means that you don’t have to spend time manually writing your business details on every single document or invoice that you produce. Having custom printed NCR forms also looks more professional. Even though your invoice details may be handwritten, the whole document will look more official if it has your branding, logo and details professionally pre-printed on there.

NCR sets, NCR Pads or NCR Books – which is best?

This really depends on the size of your business and what type of distribution is required for each type of NCR form. NCR sets are individual documents which are not part of a larger book or pad. They are loose and can be taken or handed out in any number required for that day’s work. These can be handy for tradesmen who only use NCR printing sporadically and are perhaps not out on jobs regularly. NCR pads are the most common choice. They are a good solution for businesses who have multiple employees who are on multiple jobs per day and need to document or invoice all their work. The copies can be torn out easily or left in according to business requirement. NCR books are a larger document book and are a popular choice for businesses or individuals who have a large number of jobs that all need to be recorded in one place. Books can be kept on the company premises or taken out on jobs as and when needed. They are sturdy and durable, ensuring that all documents are kept in good condition.

What types of documentation can NCR forms be used for?

NCR forms can be used in many ways. Their most common use is for invoicing. But custom printed NCR forms can come in a number of sizes, with a variety of end uses. From reporting accidents, to recording stock coming in and out. NCR forms are usually available in a mixture of sizes and with varying numbers of counterparts. From A4 duplicates to DL quadruplicates and everything in between, it’s possible to find the size and printing requirements most suited to your needs.
