What’s the difference between NCR printing and carbon receipt books?
The main point of difference here is the requirement for a carbon coy sheet. With carbon receipt books, there is always a sheet of carbon paper which must sit between the top sheet of paper and any counterparts, that will in effect become the “copies”. Carbon paper is messy and sometimes ineffectual. If the sheets of paper slide or move off centre, then the carbon can copy through onto the wrong area of the counterparts, therefore creating inaccurate information or ledgers that are difficult to read. Because NCR printing is done onto paper that is pre-treated with a specialised dye, it eliminates the need for carbon paper since the dye transfers through to all counterparts in one go. The sheets in NCR sets, pads and books are all glued together seamlessly which reduces the chance of them moving and sliding around.
